Personal computers (and in particular desktop computers) have always been a hobby of mine. I’ve enjoyed tinkering with this stuff over the years and have accumulated a number of items during this time…some new and some used. I am not an expert on the subject…more of an enthusiast…but I will still do my best to answer any questions as it relates to my computer related listings. Thank you. Original Listing… This offering is for a new Intel Core i5 9400F (6 cores / 6 threads) processor that was originally released at the beginning of 2019. It’s a 9th generation Intel processor (code name: Coffee Lake) and it’s part of the Core i5 product stack for this generation. Please also not it is an “F” designated processor, which means the integrated graphics component on this processor has been disabled and is not available (so you will need a discrete graphics card to run this processor). I should also mention this processor will require a 300-series motherboard (as discussed in more detail below) For those that are interested, Intel manufactured these processors with their 14nm micro-architecture, and this architecture survived all the way through their 11 generation processors (code name: Rocket Lake) that were released in early 2021. Some of the more notable features include the following… Cores / Threads: 6 / 6 Clock Speed: 2.9 GHz (Base) and 4.1 GHz (Boost) Die Size: 14 nm CPU Socket: LGA 1151 (300 Series) Codename / Micro-Architecture: Coffee Lake / 9th GEN Cache: 9 MB TDP: 65W Integrated Graphics: Not applicable (as noted above, a discrete graphics card will be needed to run this processor) Thermal Solution: Stock Intel cooler included Other Notes: One of the benefits of these processors is their compatibility with older 300-series motherboards. Although, because this is not a high powered 6-core (and overclockable) processor, you do not need a top-end Z370 or Z390 motherboard to pair with this processor. The 300-series motherboard product stack, from least expensive to most expensive, includes the H310, B360/365, H370 and Z370/390. Any one of these models should be fine. Although, as mentioned above, you do not need to spend extra money to get one of the top-end Z-series motherboards. Having said all the above, I do want to confirm these processors on my shelf are new and still in their original retail box. I can also confirm the pictures reflect the next (actual) processor to be sold and this includes close-up images of the processor UPC code and serial number.
